John Spivey Photography is based in the Dinneford Spring Studio in Thorverton near Exeter. Click here for a map and photo. I have been a photographer for more than 40 years.

John Spivey’s experience of photography has developed over the years –

1963-71 living in Kenya with visits to Uganda, Tanzania and South Aftrica

1972-79 living in Belgium with visits to other parts of Europe, Africa, Canada & USA.

Since 1980 in Exeter, but travelling widely – living for a year in Australia plus visits to Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Borneo. Also trips round the world via Australia, NZ, USA, Canada, Cuba and islands of the Pacific, Argentina, Patagonia, Falkland Islands, S Georgia and Antarctica, Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam, Spitsbergen, Central America - Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica.

I have a large collection of travel images, 3-screen slide shows and multimedia digital slideshows, photos on CD and DVD.

Since retiring from full-time Physics teaching, in addition to the travel photography, I have concentrated on photographic work in SW England – mainly weddings but also portrait and commercial images. Wedding Photography can be tailored to your requirements including photos of preparations at your home prior to the ceremony and, if required, speeches at the reception and the first dance. Photos taken on the honeymoon can be incorporated into the album, photobook or DVD.

All of my work is now based on high-resolution digital Nikon cameras (still images + short video clips) backed up by computer processing at my studio in Thorverton. I can produce many different types of images & media – including DVDs, CDs of digital photos, collections of prints and enlargements, PhotoBooks, cards, notelets and montages of scanned and original material. Old or damaged photographs in any condition can be digitally improved and restored. Images in low and high resolution can be emailed on demand.
